Animation Workshop Starring Isabel Custer and Femmebot 5.0
Dr. Nutmeg's Latinas in Animation Workshop Series continues with eye and body rigging, plus a Turing Test for Femmebot 5.0.
Good evening, and welcome to Turing Test (a nighttime talk show in the format of a therapy session). I’m Dr. Nutmeg, your hostess, and tonight our first guest is Isabel Custer, a Latina filmmaker who just hosted the first Key Biscayne Film Festival.
Ayyyy, why is Isabel’s head floating above her body?
She looks discombobulated. Here at The FACTory we manage reconfigurations and upgrades to the best of our ability. We can’t promise that heads will always be connected to bodies, but we aim to keep all Femmebots’ machinery looking their best, thanks to Femmebot 5.0, our Brazilian animation specialist here at The FACTory.
Can you come out here, Femmebot 5.0???
Femmebot 5.0: Olha-só. Na verdade, animation isn’t hard, it’s just time-consuming. I literally JUST figured out how to fix everyone’s eyeballs, but while editing on Adobe Character Animator and Premiere Pro, all my files kept getting caught up in the cloud, so I bought this stupid Toshiba external hard drive, and it was supposed to make animating easier, by keeping all my PSD files grounded and accessible, mas… carajo, now my Mac isn’t mounting the drive!
Então, I called for IT support and they tested it with new cables — didn’t work. They tweaked all the settings on my operating system, mas não funcionia, e agora tenho que recriar vocě, Dr. Nutz, and every single one of us Femmebots…de novo!!!
Dr. Nutmeg: That sounds like another Femmebot meltdownload, if I ever heard one!
Femmebot 5.0: Sim, that’s why I need an upgrade, Dr. Nutz. I’m not here to be the butt of your jokes.
Dr. Nutmeg: Ohhhh, no te guites, chicaLinda, we’ll get your bunda fixed up in no time. (Clap clap) Troll Farmers! Take this sad sack to the back and install the Okay Samurai Adobe Character Animator tutorials to her core operating system.
Tune in next week to see Femmebot 5.0’s upgrade, and our next guest Okay Samurai, Adobe Senior Experience Designer Lead!
Femmebot 5.0: Wait! Before my upgrade, can I churn you through Okay Samurai’s recipe for a layered PSD cake, just as a test, in case maybe I just needed more time to process?
Dr. Nutmeg: Uhhh. Can I object?
Femmebot 5.0: Too late. Using a Blank.puppet file, which you can find here, and one of the profile images of Dr. Nutmeg (inspired by Tic Bowen’s art and filtered through RunwayML and MidJourney, thanks to Femmebots AI Advisor Jonathan Jarrett), we got these results below:
Felt cute, def need to delete…😖 Like...ug... those eyelids when she blinks...!
Georgic Media Investor: I actually thought that was cool and creepy.
Femmebot 5.0: Great. I’ll listen to you since Dr. Nutz is so hard to please.
Dr. Nutmeg: Wait! What are you going to do about my weird head?? It’s all…symmetrical!
Femmebot 5.0: I had to duplicate the AI-generated image, which was a profile shot (see below). Then I flipped it horizontally, which is why your head looks, well…like a mirror head.
