Plus, Femmebot 10.0 sells the first Dr. Nutmeg's Femmebots® t-shirt and pitches a TV show about #LatinasinTech to members of the Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA).
Welcome back to The FACTory! I’m Dr. Nutmeg, your hostess, and tonight we’re taking a break from our animated tech workshops to recognize a few Latina writers, directors, and actors that weren’t nominated for Oscars…but could be because they’re freaking awesome!!! Check them out below, and then help Dr. Nutmeg and Femmebot 10.0 “Craft a Compelling Pitch.”

Crafting a Compelling Pitch
Dr. Nutmeg: Last Monday, 72% of you opened this newsletter, which introduced our new Mofongoware Femmebot 10.0. This means more than half of you are still paying attention to the wacky characters we’re creating for our animated TikTok series about #LatinasinTech. Gracias, gracias! Thank you, thank you!
Femmebot 10.0: We also sold the first Dr. Nutmeg’s Femmebots® t-shirt. Totally unexpected. Maybe the merchandising business model can work, but only if we sell 1,500 t-shirts at $25.
Dr. Nutmeg: Ay, no. The idea of scaling feels daunting, plus I’m not really interested in selling t-shirts, I’m a mad scientist, for crying out loud.
Femmebot 10.0: Ya, I know, that’s why I went to the first session of the Latinas in Tech Entrepreneurship Program last Tuesday: “Crafting a Compelling Pitch.” It was SO refreshing to meet 38 other Latinas (via Zoom) also building tech-focused startups. They are a small sample of the audience we are targeting, as well as the hundreds of #LatinasinTech on TikTok.
Entonces, last Thursday night in Downtown Orlando, Femmebot 10.0 tested a few different pitches with members of the Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA) :
Dr. Nutmeg’s Femmebots® is a Substack newsletter that offers animated tech workshops mixed with a serialized novel about Maria La Gata, a Latina rum runner in the 1920s. The target audience is #LatinasinTech who NEED to understand their cultural heritage to navigate their careers. Judging by their posts on TikTok, they also NEED to see themselves reflected in tech and media.
A Reality TV show featuring #LatinasinTech, starting with Orlando. If audiences love watching empowered women in “Selling Sunset” and “Selling Tampa,” they will ADORE watching Latinas Selling Tech.
If the above pitches turn into reality on a streaming platform, our next project would be a film featuring a Latina entrepreneur called “The Nine Lives of Maria La Gata.”
Big thanks to ALPFA board member and Latina in Tech Marisa Diaz for the encouragement!
Our next session with the Latinas in Tech Entrepreneurship Program is tomorrow night. The topic will be, “Building a Strong Business Model.” Let’s see where this journey takes us!
