Sharky B vs. La Chingona Engineer
Dr. Nutmeg auditions two new characters for Season 3 of TheFemmebots.com and tests out her CliftonStrengths®.
Welcome back to the FACTory! I’m Dr. Nutmeg, your hostess, and tonight we’re sharing more TikTok market research for our TV show about Latinas in Tech, which we hope also helps YOU use the platform for your own research.
If you scroll down, you’ll also see the results of my CliftonStrengths® test — apparently I’m a strategic thinker with hella ideas! What are you?
Season 3 Auditions
Sharky B, The Investor
The TikTok algorithms have spoken! Sharky B’s audition on Wednesday, April 24 was by far the most successful of all our market research posts since November, with more than 1,800 views and 9 likes. Why?
Is it the hashtags?
Is it the Ritchie Valens song, “We Belong Together?”
Is it the day and time that we posted?
Is it our VoiceOver talent Jonathan Jarrett (who is also our AI Advisor)?
Is it the silly psychedelic glasses?
Is it the sound byte itself?
“Ok, ladies, what are you doing? VR is like, done!”
As a mad scientist, I would say it’s a combination of all of the above that added up to a winning TikTok post! Congrats, Sharky B! We’re officially casting you in Season 3 of TheFemmebots.com. We can’t wait to see what you think of the new app our Femmebots pitch in your Shark Tank.
Which brings us to our next audition…
Femmebot 4.0, The Web Developer
We posted the first take on Friday, April 26 at about 9 a.m. in the morning, and to my surprise, it didn’t do as well as Sharky B’s audition. I couldn’t believe it. Even though it made me laugh out loud, and it included all the same hashtags as the Sharky B post two days before, the views never went higher than 250...
Por que? It didn’t make sense. We even included a little ad for the upcoming Latinas in Tech Summit in San Francisco and a song by our old friend and Bay Area artist Deuce Eclipse, which I THOUGHT would play well with the audience we’d like to attract, pero, no!
To do right by our awesome VoiceOver talent Angello Pizarro, who also did VoiceOver in Season 2 and acting in Season 1, we posted a second take on Friday, May 3, again in the morning, added hashtags #chingona #engineer and BOOM!
The animation got 1,554 views and one like!
Again, we re-used Bay Area artist Deuce Eclipse’s “Cumbia Cocotazo” song and tried some snappier editing, so it’s hard to say if it was the hashtags, the time and day that we posted, or if the performance of TikTok’s algorithms depend on the frequency of posts — according to the Interwebz, some people post as much as every four hours (ay ya yay!) so this can’t be the problema….
Regardless, this was a number that helped us change our character’s name from Femmebot 4.0 to La Chingona Engineer! Welcome to the cast of Season 3 — we can’t wait to see what kind of app you pitch to our vulture capitalist Sharky B!!
Do You Know Your CliftonStrengths®?
If you haven’t heard about this system for uncovering your natural talents, I highly recommend it, especially if you’re an entrepreneur working in a team, or trying to assemble a team.
According to “Strengthsfinder 2.0,” created by Gallup, Inc., an American multinational analytics and advisory company based in Washington, D.C., Dr. Nutmeg’s Top 5 Strengths are:
Ideation®: Fascinated by ideas. Able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.
Learner®: Possessed by a great desire to learn and continuously improve. The process of learning, rather than the outcome, is exciting.
Input®: Need to collect and archive. Accumulate information, ideas, artifacts, or even relationships.
Activator®: Make things happen by turning thoughts into action. Would rather do things now instead of talking about them.
Intellection®: Characterized by intellectual activity. Introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.
Yep. That sounds like Dr. Nutz. There is also a color code that categorizes these descriptions. Four of mine fell into “strategic thinking” and one of them (the Activator) fell into “influencing,” which means being able to take charge, speak up, and make sure others are heard.
What are your Top Strengths?
